Youth Lobby School
Funder: Nebraska Civic Engagement Table
Overview: A program designed to support youth from historically exploited or marginalized communities in making their voices heard. Participants learn about the Nebraska legislative process, build advocacy skills, and engage with elected officials. Program is modeled after the successful adult Lobby School.
- Expand advocacy and build power particularly among youth from historically exploited/marginalized communities
- Provide access and opportunities for youth with less access to power and civic opportunity
- Bridge the gap in access to the legislative process
- Develop a community of young advocates passionate about creating change in Nebraska
- Build Nebraska's future leaders and change makers
Program Goals
- Youth in grades 10-12 (10th-12th grade students)
- Students from historically exploited or marginalized communities
- Students with less access to power and civic opportunity

- Lincoln Public Schools
- Omaha Public Schools
Geographic Scope
- Monthly meetings and training sessions
- Lessons on the legislative process
- Guest speakers
- Lunches with elected officials
- Youth Lobby Day at Nebraska State Capitol
- Hands-on experience talking with senators about policy
