Program Overview:
An all-expenses-paid summer experience for high school students that combines education about rural electrification with recreation, networking, and sightseeing.

Trip Details

• Duration: 3 days (July 22-24, based on 2024 dates)
• Location: Bismarck State College campus, Bismarck, North Dakota
• Cost: All-expenses-paid (lodging, meals, transportation included at no cost to participants)

Program Components

• Learn "The Story Behind the Switch" - understanding where electrical power comes from
• Power industry expert presentations
• Hands-on educational activities
• Tours of power generation facilities:
- Great Plains Synfuel Plant - Freedom Coal Mine - Antelope Valley Station Power Plant
• Recreation and socializing
• Games and visits to local attractions
• Networking with high school students from across South Dakota

Eligibility

• Grade Level: High school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors
• Membership Requirement: Parent or guardian must be an active member-owner of Southeastern Electric Cooperative
