Youth Engagement Participation Program | Cohort One

Status: Completed (March 2022 - June 2022)

Geographic Scope: California (three YMCAs participated: Anaheim Family YMCA, YMCA of San Joaquin County, YMCA of West San Gabriel Valley)

Focus Areas:

  • Youth education on safe practices to prevent COVID-19 infections

  • Youth leadership and advocacy on COVID-19 vaccinations

  • Community outreach using youth voices

    • Key Accomplishments:

  • Reached over 2,000 individuals, majority youth

  • Anaheim Family YMCA: reached 160+ families and 960+ youth through Resource Fairs; engaged 1,000+ youth through 39 after-school programs and day camps

  • YMCA of San Joaquin County: reached 100+ families and youth through family nights; engaged youth through creative activities

  • YMCA of West San Gabriel Valley: 180 children in summer day camp; promoted vaccination clinic resulting in 27 total vaccinations (17 children)

  • Promoted germs transmission awareness and youth self-advocacy

    • Eligibility:

  • YMCA organizations within California

    • Partner: Vaccinate All 58 campaign of the California Department of Public Health
