Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Grants

Geographic Scope: McPherson County, KS (county-wide with multiple councils: Canton-Galva and McPherson)

Eligibility: Local organizations serving youth in McPherson County

Focus Areas: Projects and organizations that meet needs identified by young people concerning youth in their communities

Purpose: A county-wide group of young volunteers, ages 13 to 18, who:

  • Analyze the needs within their communities

  • Grant money to local organizations who meet designated needs

  • Raise funds for local grant pools and programs

  • Encourage youth volunteerism and philanthropic action
  • Member Selection Methods:

  • Formal: Selection by YAC with/without application, nominations from school personnel, selection by youth service agencies, superintendent nomination

  • Informal: Word of mouth, accepting anyone interested in serving
