Overview

Albion Community Foundation Mission The Albion Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community foundation. Our mission is to strengthen the greater Albion area by cultivating community assets to enhance our quality of life. Over the years, our mission has evolved to include three central tenets: community improvement, cultural heritage, and youth development. To advance these priorities, we maintain an endowment comprised of over 60 funds that distribute grants with the purpose of serving specific needs in the community. Since our founding, we have granted over $3.7 million to charitable causes in our community, not including the $3.7 million restoration of the Historic Bohm Theatre. Youth Advisory Committee Fund This fund supports local youth needs and youth development in the local community. The Youth Advisory Committee advises the Board of Trustees concerning grantmaking from the fund, providing young people with a hands-on philanthropic experience. Maximum grant request $5,000.

Eligibility

Any nonprofit public charity, as defined by sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code, located within the greater Albion area or directly serving residents of the greater Albion area is eligible to apply for funding.Faith institutions, public entities, and schools directly serving the greater Albion community are also eligible for specific projects subject to restrictions. Applicants must be in good standing on all previous grants from the Foundation.

Ineligibility

Grant funds cannot support the following:Activities conducted outside the greater Albion area, unless directly serving residents from the greater Albion areaSchool teacher salaries, in-service, release time or school administrative costsExisting deficits, licensing fees, fines, penalties, interest or litigationFundraising or allocations to endowment or other restricted fundsFunds which the applicant would re-grant to other organizationsCash prizes, contributions, donationsReligious activities, including bible study, vacation bible camps, etc.
