Youth Advisory Board (YAB)

Overview: MOPOP's Youth Advisory Board (YAB) gives teens a voice in programming at the museum and an opportunity to help Northwest arts and culture thrive. YAB members collaborate with artists, co-create museum projects, and shape the future of pop culture.

Geographic Scope: Seattle/Pacific Northwest area (local participation recommended)

    • Eligibility:

  • Students between ages 15-18

  • May serve on YAB for up to three years

  • Passionate about pop culture

    • What YAB Does:

  • Collaborates with local musicians, artists, youth arts leaders, and community groups

  • Screens submissions and helps select artists for Sound Off! music showcase

  • Helps produce landmark annual events (Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival, Sound Off!, etc.)

  • Designs and contributes to unique projects (e.g., curating exhibition walls with commissioned youth artists)

  • Works with MOPOP's social media team to create content

  • Gets inside peeks at museum exhibitions and special events

    • Meeting Schedule: Meets every other week during the school year
