Program Overview

Grants for reimbursement of costs for Firewise Mitigation are available through Yavapai Firewise. This is a reimbursement program, meaning payment to homeowners, HOAs, or associations occurs after completion of work.

Key Requirements

• Mitigation work must be completed during (not before) the grant period
• Appropriate documentation required including receipts, canceled checks, volunteer timesheets, and invoices
• Cash payments are NOT accepted as proof of payment
• Only cancelled checks or credit card receipts are acceptable proof of payment

Processing Timeline

• Submissions reviewed and consolidated by Yavapai Firewise Grant Administrator
• Submitted to AZ Department of Forestry and Fire Management (AZ-DFFM)
• Further review and final approval by Federal offices in New Mexico
• Typical processing time: 60-120 days from submission to state check issuance (can extend to 180 days, especially during fire season)
• Yavapai Firewise issues checks to recipients within 2 weeks of receiving funds
• Banks may hold deposits for up to 5 business days
