Overview

The Woodford County Community Fund (WCCF), an affiliate fund of the Blue Grass Community Foundation, is accepting grant proposals for projects, programs, or partnerships that enhance the quality of life in Woodford County. Grant awards will be in the range of $2,500 to $5,000.

In partnership with local contributors, the WCCF advisory board works to increase charitable giving and build charitable resources to address Woodford County’s most urgent needs and most transformative opportunities. WCCF will give preference to proposals which seek to:

* Create Long-Term Community Impact – Projects that generate significant, long-lasting ripple effects in the community.
* Encourage Collaboration – Initiatives involving two or more nonprofits working together to create transformative and sustainable community change while building local capacity.
* Promote Civic Engagement – Efforts that significantly expand meaningful civic involvement and build social capital within the community.
* Follow Best Practices – Programs that build on demonstrated and documented best practices.
* Foster Innovation – Unique and innovative approaches to addressing community needs.
* Build on Previous Success – Projects that leverage progress achieved through prior grants.
* Bridge Community Divides – Initiatives that foster collaboration among individuals, organizations, or sectors of the community.
* Expand High-Need Services – Programs that increase an organization's ability to extend a successful initiative to serve a high-need population.

Eligibility

* Applicant organization must be located in or serve residents of Woodford County.
* Applicant organization must be classified as a nonprofit public charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code; or have a fiscal sponsor with a 501(c)(3) designation; or be a public institution or entity with a designated charitable purpose, such as a school or unit of government.
* Applicant organization must have a Candid/GuideStar Seal of Transparency at the Gold level or higher on GuideStar.org, a national database of nonprofit organizations classified as tax-exempt by the IRS. Organizations have free access to their profile on the site and can provide specific information to reach each level of transparency. Click here to learn more about earning your seal of transparency. Please note that if your organization is a school or government entity, your organization is not eligible to have a Candid/GuideStar profile, and this requirement is waived.
* Applicant organization must not discriminate in their hiring, volunteer participation, or provision of client services. Exceptions may be made for hiring practices for religious organizations who can demonstrate bona fide occupational qualifications based on religious beliefs for employment.
* Applicant organizations with religious affiliations will be considered for funding only if the project for which they seek support attempts to address the needs of the wider community without regard to religious beliefs.
* Applicant organization cannot have an outstanding grant report that is past due to Blue Grass Community Foundation.
