Women of the Year Grant

The Women of the Year program, initiated in 1956 by the Central Kansas Community Foundation, honors women who have made significant contributions to their communities. Each year, three exceptional women are celebrated for their outstanding service in various fields such as education, business, and civic engagement. This program, now overseen by the Women's Community Foundation, continues to inspire future generations of female leaders in Harvey County, Kansas, fostering community transformation through dedicated service.

Central Kansas Community Foundation
Located in Newton, CKCF is a host foundation to 19 affiliates in the central Kansas region, supporting rural philanthropy.
The CKCF based in Newton, Kansas is thriving as a viable community foundation serving Newton while also being host to numerous affiliate community foundations throughout central Kansas. Following a stable history serving a tri-county area the foundation merged in 2009 with the well-established Greater Newton Community Foundation. Today, the CKCF continues to demonstrate a commitment to strengthening communities across the entire Central Kansas region.
The Women of the Year program, established in 1956, has a rich tradition of honoring women whose selfless contributions enrich their communities. Each year, three women are recognized for their dedication and exceptional service in areas such as Community and Civic Service, Education, Religion, and Business.
Over the years, the program’s mission has expanded to celebrate outstanding women across Harvey County. The Women’s Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Kansas Community Foundation (CKCF), now oversees the program, strengthening its impact and ensuring long-term sustainability through operational support. This collaboration furthers their shared commitment to fostering leadership, amplifying community impact, and celebrating the achievements of women in Harvey County, Kansas.
Together, the Women’s Community Foundation and the Women of the Year program inspire future generations of women leaders dedicated to transforming their communities through service and vision.
