Women Building Utah Scholarship and Grant Program

Overview:
The Utah Chapter of Professional Women in Building offers scholarships and grants through the "Women Building Utah" program to promote, elevate, and support women in the building industry. The program aims to address the significant underrepresentation of women in construction, who comprise only approximately 3% of the construction industry nationwide.

Eligibility

• Geographic scope: Current Utah residents only
• Field of study: Any field related to the building industry, including:
  • Trade professions
  • General contracting
  • Design
  • Engineering
  • Other construction-related fields
• Education type: Applicants seeking further education and/or professional development
• Qualifying programs: Industry-recognized universities, colleges, trade schools, or technical schools offering industry-related courses or certifications

Award Amounts

• Scholarships: $1,000 per award
• Grants: Variable amounts determined based on individual need
• Reapplication: Applicants can reapply every 6 months

Application Timeline

• Deadline: Open deadline with rolling quarterly reviews
• Review process: Applications reviewed quarterly
• Recurrence: Scholarships can be reapplied for every 6 months

Application Requirements

Essay or Video Submission:
Submit one of the following:

• Essay: No more than 500 words
• Video: As an alternative to essay

Essay/Video Content Must Address:

1. Your interest in entering the building industry
2. Why you feel you should be awarded a scholarship/grant
3. How you would use or benefit from the scholarship/grant

Submission

• Format: Online application form on website
• Review timeline: Applications reviewed quarterly
• Notification: "We'll get back to you soon" after submission

Reapplication

• Applicants can reapply every 6 months
• Scholarships can be awarded multiple times to the same individual
