Overview
The WMU Department of Chemistry offers the Dr. Nagler Endowment for Chemistry Scholarship to support outstanding graduate students from historically underrepresented populations. Hashem and Suzanne Akhavan-Tafti in honor of Professor Emeritus Robert Nagler, this scholarship aims to assist full-time chemistry graduate students who maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher, enhancing their academic pursuits and fostering diversity in the field.
Fellowships and scholarships acknowledge outstanding Department of Chemistry students and provide assistance in their studies. These scholarships augment awards made to students supported by Western Michigan University, the Lee Honors College and the American Chemical Society.
This scholarship was established in 2012 by Dr. Hashem and Suzanne Akhavan-Tafti, in honor of Professor Emeritus Robert Nagler. The fund will be used at the discretion of the chair of the Department of Chemistry to support a full-time chemistry graduate student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher from a historically underrepresented population.
