William S. Hoar Award The Canadian Society of Zoologists is a professional organization dedicated to the enhancement of education and research in zoology at the provincial, federal and international level. Membership is open to all persons interested in zoology - Students, Researchers, and Educators. The Canadian Society of Zoologists is a diverse and inclusive not-for-profit scientific society that welcomes members of any gender, race, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation. The society aims to reflect this diversity at all levels, ranging from participation at meetings, to representation on council and committees, to the recipients of its awards. The Canadian Society of Zoologists is proud to promote and support equality for all members interested in zoology. The William S. Hoar Award is given for the best student paper presented orally at the Annual Conference of the Society, and is intended to encourage and acknowledge excellence in scientific research and communication by students.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. All candidates must be enrolled as students at the time of the competition, or have completed their degree within the past year.They must present work completed towards their degree program.A student may compete only once for either the Hoar Award or the Best Student Poster Award at each Annual Conference.

Ineligibility

A finalist for the W.S. Hoar award will not be considered for other oral presentation awards at a given Annual Conference.A student who has won the Hoar Award is no longer eligible for the competition.
