Mission To assist with the immediate emergency needs of volunteer fire fighting agencies and first responders throughout the state of Colorado. History El Pomar's Wildland Fire Fund was created in rapid response to Colorado's devastating wildfire season of 2002. El Pomar led an effort to supply front line volunteer Colorado fire agencies with various supplies, including personal firefighting equipment, radios, hoses and pumps. Since the Fund's inception, El Pomar has awarded over $6 million in grants and addressed emergency needs for volunteer firefighters and first responders across the state. Volunteer agencies seeking support for personal protection equipment and other emergency needs are eligible to apply for the Fund through El Pomar’s competitive grant process.

Volunteer agencies seeking support for personal protection equipment and other emergency needs are eligible to apply for the Fund through El Pomar’s competitive grant process. If funded, applicants must wait three years (36 months) to be considered again.If declined, applicants must wait one year (12 months) to be considered again. The Foundation is limited to providing grant support to 501c3 organizations and government agencies whose activities take place within Colorado.

Ineligibility

El Pomar does not accept competitive or Fund applications for grant support for:Organizations that do not have an active 501c3 nonprofit IRS determination letter or a fiscal agent with an active 501c3 statusPrivate foundations or 509a3 organizations that are not functionally integrated according to the IRSOrganizations that do not have fiscal responsibility for the proposed projectOrganizations that practice discrimination of any kindOther foundations or nonprofits that distribute scholarships to recipients of its own selectionEndowmentsIndividualsReligious organizations for support of religious programsDeficits or debt eliminationTravel, conferences, conventions, group meetings, or seminarsInfluence legislation or support candidates for political officeProduce videos or other media projectsScientific research projects or studiesWithout prior approval, El Pomar does not accept competitive or Fund applications for grant support for the items listed below.
