Mission and Purpose The Whittenberger Foundation prioritizes innovative, Idaho-based projects that enrich and improve the quality of life for children and young people. This mission continues Mrs. Whittenberger’s lifelong commitment to the welfare of children, as outlined in her Last Will and Testament. Areas of Interest The Foundation's areas of interest relating to children and young people are: education, arts and culture, health and wellness,social welfare, youth recreation and environmental initiatives. In evaluating grant requests from Idaho nonprofits, the Foundation considers available financial resources and seeks opportunities where Whittenberger funds can make a critical, measurable difference in project success.

The Foundation supports activities in the geographic region of Southwest Idaho.Applicants whose operations are outside this region have an additional burden of establishing the merits of an application.An applicant must be either a qualified public institution or an institution which has received tax-exempt status under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Please note that the Foundation does not support activities outside of Idaho.The Foundation does not support the following: No grants are awarded to individuals for political lobbying, voter registration, or political campaign purposes. No single recipient may receive more than 20% of the distributable annual income.Apart from a limited number of continuing commitments, grants for amounts in excess of $20,000 are rarely awarded.The Board does not usually make more than one grant to the same organization within a twelve-month period.
