The Whidbey Island Garden Tour Grant supports local causes and nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving and maintaining Whidbey Island's natural habitats. Established in 1996, this all-volunteer initiative has raised over $500,000 for more than sixty projects. Each year, the WIGT board reviews applications in May, awarding funds in July, encouraging community engagement through marketing the tour, and fostering awareness of the island's natural beauty.

Overview

The Whidbey Island Garden Tour The Whidbey Island Garden Tour is an all-volunteer, nonprofit that was established in 1996 when a group of islanders organized to Save the Woods on Saratoga. The WIGT mission is to provide funding to local causes and nonprofit organizations supporting the improvement, restoration, education and maintenance of our common Whidbey Island habitat. Over the past 25 years, the tour and our sponsors have raised more than $500,000 and have distributed the vast majority to over sixty causes meeting our mission objectives. In 2022, we granted over $14,000 to our selected grant recipients. Over the decades, more than 80 private gardens have been opened to the delight of the public. Our trained volunteers serve throughout each garden to direct parking, control access, manage traffic flow, and provide information about the wonders of Whidbey Island. Whidbey Island Garden Tour Grant Applications will be reviewed by the WIGT board in early May and funding will be awarded in July after the annual tour takes place. Applicants will be notified of their funding status by the end of May and are asked to please help us market the tour by notifying your organization membership about this year’s tour and sharing our website and social media links.
