About the Williamsburg Health Foundation

The Williamsburg Health Foundation (WHF) is an independent private foundation dedicated to improving the health and well-being of those who live in Greater Williamsburg.

The Foundation is focused on strengthening the healthcare safety-net for uninsured and underinsured individuals and supports programs and activities that target behavioral and social risk factors that influence health throughout the life span.

WHF awards grants to nonprofit organizations as well as local and state government agencies that serve residents in our service area of the City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County.

WHF Responsive Grant

Any organization meeting the basic requirements can apply for a Responsive Grant from WHF.

Funding Priorities

Priority is given to grant proposals which:

* Align with the WHF vision, mission, goals, and strategies.
* Impact the health of economically disadvantaged individuals, including those who are uninsured and underinsured.
* Improve health opportunities, defined as community resources that enable people to achieve their maximum physical and social well-being.
* Demonstrate collaboration, defined as aligning work among partners.
* Create stronger systems to support health in the community.

Eligibility

* The following types of organizations may apply for funding:
* Nonprofit corporations with 501(c)3 tax status as demonstrated by an IRS determination and filing of IRS form 990 or 990EZ.
* State or local government agencies.
* Note: Applicants may use a fiscal agent to meet agency eligibility.
* Service Area
* WHF invests in organizations and programs serving residents of Greater Williamsburg which is defined as the City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County.
* Note: WHF occasionally funds, by invitation, outside the service area to advance its mission.

Ineligibility

* The Foundation does not consider funding requests to support:
* Multi-year funding
* Fundraising events
* Endowments
* Restoration of state or local government funds
* Direct lobbying efforts
* Retrospective funding
