Water Quality Protection and Restoration Program and Land Stewardship Initiatives Grant

This program allocates 11.75% of the revenues from the ¼% Drinking Water Protection Program to support municipalities and non-profits in initiatives like pollution prevention, habitat restoration, and education. Grants range from $50,000 to $250,000, ensuring impactful projects enhance the community's environmental health and sustainability.

Water Quality Protection and Restoration Program and Land Stewardship Initiatives
The Water Quality Protection and Restoration Program and Land Stewardship Initiatives (WQPRP) is a grant program funded under the Suffolk County ¼% Drinking Water Protection Program pursuant to Article XII of the Suffolk County Charter (Section 12-2 (B) of the Suffolk County Charter).
WQPRP utilizes 11.75% of the total revenues generated each calendar year under the ¼% Drinking Water Protection Program to provide grant funding to municipalities and non-profit organizations for projects to protect and restore the County’s groundwater and surface water resources.
The following are the categories of projects eligible for funding under the WQPRP:
