Washington State Student and Youth Homelessness COVID-19 Response Fund

Status: CLOSED - As of March 30, 2021, all available funds have been granted out and the fund is no longer accepting applications.

Geographic Scope: Washington State

Focus Areas:

  • Support for PK-12 students and youth/young adults (ages 13-24) experiencing homelessness

  • Flexible funding to address diverse needs of students and youth impacted by COVID-19

  • Funds intended to enhance, not replace federal, state, or local public funding
  • Target Population:

  • Nonprofit organizations serving early learning, K-12, or youth/young adults experiencing homelessness

  • School districts

  • Local tribes

  • Fiscally sponsored organizations also eligible
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Located in Washington State

  • Serve early learning program students, K-12 students, and/or youth and young adults (ages 13-24) experiencing homelessness

  • Includes those living unsheltered, in shelters, in hotels/motels, or in doubled-up/couch-surfing situations
  • Priority Populations:

  • Equity: Organizations serving PK-12 students and youth in marginalized populations most impacted by COVID-19, including:

  • - Blacks/African Americans
    - Latinx
    - American Indians/Alaskan Natives
    - LGBTQ
    - Youth with disabilities
    - Pregnant or parenting youth and young adults
    - Immigrant/refugee populations
    - Non-English speakers
    - Youth with prior or current legal system involvement
    - Commercially sexually exploited children
    - Youth in households with domestic violence
  • Geographic Diversity: Organizations serving students/youth in all parts of Washington State, including rural areas

  • Applications reviewed on rolling basis (while funding was available)

  • Applicants notified via email of award status

  • Award letters issued first, followed by funds within 2-3 weeks of award letter receipt
  • Note: Fund is currently closed as of 3/30/21 with no new applications being accepted.
