Warren "Ed" Brown Math/Engineering Scholarship Fund

Scholarship honoring Warren "Ed" Brown, a Mendocino County native and accomplished chemical engineer who passed away in 2005 from cancer. Created by the Ukiah High School Alumni Association at the Community Foundation.

Background:

• Ed Brown was born and raised in Redwood Valley
• Graduated from Ukiah High School in 1973
• Earned BS in Chemical Engineering from UC Davis in four years (considerable achievement)
• Earned MS in Chemical Engineering from UC Davis
• Worked at Chevron for 26 years (1980-2006) in various engineering and management roles
• Supported facilities in California, Mississippi, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Venezuela, and Nigeria
• Known for mentoring young engineers
• Passionate about outdoor activities: cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing
• Explored Italian Alps by bicycle in summer 2005
• Diagnosed with rare, aggressive cancer and died shortly after
