Warren Alpert Foundation: Distinguished Scholars Award Grant

The Warren Alpert Foundation's Distinguished Scholars Award aims to enhance public health by funding innovative research in basic and clinical neurosciences. Nominations are invited from medical schools and research institutions in the U.S., focusing on candidates with a strong post-doctoral record. The selection process emphasizes scholarly achievements, scientific proposals, and letters of recommendation. A total of five awards will be granted to deserving scholars, fostering significant advancements in neuroscience.

NOTE: All inquiries and applications must be submitted by either the Dean, Chief Academic Research Officer, or the Grant’s Administration officer of the applicants institution.
The focus of The Warren Alpert Foundation is to improve the health of the public through grants and programmatic activities progressing towards attaining or perfecting medical treatments or cures through basic research, translational and outcomes research as well as through health education.
The dean or academic research officer of each medical school, academic hospital, or research institute located in the United States is invited to nominate one candidate for research in basic or clinical neurosciences. Scholars will be chosen on the basis of the success in their prior post-doctoral work as well as in the importance and creativity of their continued work. The Foundation expects to make five awards.
The foundation will select recipients for awards using an objective and nondiscriminatory selection process based upon criteria including a review of each applicant’s scholastic achievements, academic records, scientific proposal and submitted letters of recommendation.

Eligibility

Must have an MD, PhD, or bothMust hold a post-doctoral research position at a United States medical school, research institute, or academic institutionMinimum of 3 years and no more than 6 years of a post-doctoral fellowship by the following July 1. Research focused in the filed of NeuroscienceMust be nominated by the Dean of the medical school or equivalent institutional senior leaderMust include a nomination letter from your institutionCommitment of a minimum of 75% effort3 letters of recommendationBudgets must be submitted in NIH G300 format
