Vitality Grants: Preserving Historical Assets

The Vitality Grants program aims to bolster regional vitality by preserving historical assets and fostering educational initiatives. Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply, focusing on projects that create lasting impacts, promote community revitalization, and enhance sustainability. The program prioritizes efforts that engage the community with its rich historical heritage, while ensuring economic development and equity in storytelling and preservation efforts.

The Historic Preservation Action Area supports our goal to strengthen regional vitality by preserving our region’s historical assets and promoting educational efforts that build on these assets.
Applications are invited from nonprofit organizations with programs that support this goal. Of particular interest are projects that:
Result in preservation of historical assets, with attention to projects with long-lasting impact that foster economic development and equity in regards to stories told and physical assets preserved;Contribute to community or neighborhood revitalization;Promote sustainability or expression of a sense of place; andProvide new opportunities for the community to engage with our region’s rich historical assets.

Eligibility

Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations or 509(a)(1) public organizations in our eight-county region, which comprises Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties.

Ineligibility

The Community Foundation’s competitive grants program generally does not fund special events, fundraising campaigns, religious activities, endowments, buildings (except for historical assets), or debt retirement.
