Vision of Tomorrow Community Fund

Overview: A first-of-its-kind grantmaking program designed to help purpose-based organizations build data-driven fleet safety cultures by underwriting the adoption of lifesaving vehicle technologies.

Focus Areas:

Fleet safety technology adoption

Lifesaving vehicle technologies including:

- Telematics
- Backup and side view cameras
- Collision avoidance systems
- Side guards
- Forward-collision warning systems
- Blindspot warning systems

Eligible Applicants:

Essential service organizations

Purpose-based organizations

Non-profit organizations

Food rescue organizations

Dairy distributors

Other mission-driven fleets

Program Benefits:

Grant funding for technology acquisition and installation

Access to TSR member mentorship and expertise

Enrollment in the FOCUS curriculum

Membership in a cohort of peer organizations

Support for up to two years of implementation

Geographic Scope: United States (with examples from NYC and Boston area)

City Harvest (NYC): $20,000 grant (2021) - for backup cameras, convex mirrors, and side-view cameras

Rosev Dairy (Boston area): Grant recipient (2021 second cycle) - for side guards to prevent children from sliding under trucks

Background:
Launched in January 2021, this program recognizes that few non-profits and purpose-based organizations have budgets for lifesaving vehicle technology. Road crashes account for 1.35 million deaths per year globally, with 25% of work-related fatalities being transportation-related. The program aims to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries by ensuring fleet vehicles have access to safety technology.
