Transit Grant - Bus and Bus Facilities Program (ND)

The Transit Grant - Bus and Bus Facilities Program (ND) supports capital projects for replacing, rehabilitating, and purchasing buses and related equipment, as well as constructing bus facilities. Funded by Section 5339, it requires an 80% federal and 20% local match. Agencies must apply through the NDDOT Transportation program, and new applicants should consult eligibility guidelines. This initiative aims to enhance public transportation in North Dakota.

NOTE: Current transit agencies enrolled in the NDDOT Transportation program should go directly into the BlackCat Grant Management Transit Data Management System and complete their applications. Any new agency applying for funding should review the program eligibility information and the State Management Plan for Public Transportation. Contact the NDDOT Local Government Transit staff for assistance.

Section 5339 - Bus and Bus Facilities program is a capital only grant. This capital program provides funding to replace, rehabilitate, and purchase buses and related equipment, and to construct busrelated facilities. Section 5339 funds cannot be used for operating assistance.
Funding
Capital projects must have a local match. Capital – 80% FTA and 20% Local. Local Match can only be obligated to one project.
