Vibrancy Grant Program

Overview: The Vibrancy Grant Program supports small businesses located in downtown Greensboro to improve services, expand commercial opportunities, and enhance the visual appeal of storefronts.

Funding Source: Funded by Duke Energy Foundation ($25,000) with matching funds from Downtown Greensboro Inc. (additional $25,000), totaling $50,000 to support approximately 20 small businesses at $2,500 each.

Award Amount: Up to $2,500 per business

Geographic Scope: Downtown Greensboro Business Improvement District (BID)

Eligible Applicants: Small businesses located downtown

Eligible Grant Expenditures

New Technology for Sales Efficiency:

Investments in new point-of-sale systems and other electronic equipment

Expanding advertising and digital marketing efforts

Increasing social media presence

Programs aimed at workforce development and job creation

Investments to Expand Services and Commerce:

Modifying physical spaces to improve functionality

Material and construction costs

Tools, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (tables, chairs, display counters)

Signage and billboard expenses

Sourcing goods and services from local suppliers

Storefront Beautification:

Interior and exterior painting

Awnings

Lighting fixtures

Outdoor seating or gathering areas

Planters

Projects that improve appearance or curb appeal

Program Status: Multiple rounds of awards have been announced. First round winners announced in November 2025. Second round winners announced with 10 additional businesses receiving $2,500 each.
