VCAF Subgrants

Mission: Third-party grant distribution for ALA entities that have identified funding sources from external foundations or corporations requiring 501(c)(3) recipient status.

Program Overview

Third-party sub grants support ALA units, districts/counties, or departments that have identified a source for grant funding from a foundation or corporation that requires the recipient to be a 501(c)(3) organization. The ALA Foundation serves as the recipient and then sub grants to the ALA unit, district/county, or department according to the terms and conditions of the grantor.

Eligibility

• ALA units, districts/counties, or departments
• Must have identified a third-party funding source
• Recipient organization must be 501(c)(3)
• Projects must support ALA's mission

Fund Requirements

Sub grants of third-party grants must support the mission and programs of the American Legion Auxiliary, including:

• ALA Girls State programs
• Veterans programs and services
• Educational initiatives
• Community service projects

Application Process

1. Identify Third-Party Funding: Locate a foundation or corporate grant opportunity that requires a 501(c)(3) recipient.
2. Request ALA Foundation as Fiscal Agent: Contact the ALA Foundation to request they serve as the 501(c)(3) recipient for your grant application.
3. Submit Application: Apply for the third-party grant with ALA Foundation as the recipient organization.
4. ALA Foundation Subgrants: Upon receipt of funds, the ALA Foundation subgrants to your ALA unit, district/county, or department according to grantor terms.
