How We Help Variety of Southern California believes all children should be afforded the same opportunities to thrive and achieve their dreams. We remove the barriers to Mobility, Education, and Healthcare by providing the necessary equipment, devices and funding to maintain inclusive opportunities for all children right here in our community. Our mission is to provide lifesaving and life- enriching assistance to organizations which serve children with special needs in Southern California. Variety Sunshine Coach Program The Variety Sunshine Coach program was born 30 years ago as a means to literally bring the “shut-in” child out into the “sunshine”. Today, thousands of these specially equipped Sunshine Coaches are traveling the world’s roadways, as each local Variety Chapter has developed regional programs. In Southern California alone, over 250 Sunshine coaches transport children to medical treatment, therapy, education and recreation.

Only organizations meeting the following criteria should apply for funding:You are a 501(c ) 3 organizationYour program services expense comprises at least 65% of total functional expensesYour mission is to aid children with special needs in the areas of Health Care, Education or MobilityYour funding request is for a program specific to children in Southern California ages birth to 18You can clearly define the number of children served by this programYou will submit an impact summary (to be provided by Variety) within 10 months of receipt of funding.If your organization is listed on www.Guidestar.org you should be current and updated with all Basic Organization Information.
