Overview
Urgent Response Grants
Award Amount: Up to $5,000
Geographic Scope: New England region (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Vermont)
Focus Areas: Help grassroots, social change organizations respond quickly to:
- Budget Limit: Groups with budgets over $400,000 are not funded
- Frequency: Groups are eligible for one Urgent Response Grant in addition to a Sustaining Grant during a Grant Cycle
- Organization Type: Grassroots, social change organizations
- Priority: Frontline people of color-led organizations that incorporate anti-racism and anti-oppression values and practices into their work
Eligibility
- Ongoing program work (including expenses the organization should have anticipated)
- Financial crises or shortfalls in projected funding
- Because the group missed a funding deadline
What is NOT Funded
Grants are NOT to be used for:- Rolling basis: Applications accepted on a rolling basis as long as funding is available
- Phone screening required: Must first call 617-522-7676 ext. 115 and speak with a Haymarket staff person about your request before receiving application
- Phone interviews: Conducted as needed
- Timeline: Groups will be notified about grant decisions 2-4 weeks after application is received
