The University Technology Development Funding: Flash Grant supports innovative life sciences research with exceptional commercial potential. It provides rapid funding to help develop ideas related to sleep, hibernation, and the effects of space travel. Grants are offered in three cycles throughout 2024-2025, focusing on topics such as sleep health, disorders, and space biology, ensuring targeted support for transformative research that can lead to significant advancements in these fields.

NOTE: Important First Step: The Principal Investigator for the proposal must register for an account on the NCBiotech Funding Portal in advance of the deadline to submit a proposal. There are three cycles for this grant opportunity in 2024-25:

Flash Grant

The Flash Grant program identifies and energizes creative ideas that exhibit early indications of exceptional commercial potential. Like a flash of inspiration, flash grants infuse a quick jolt of funding at a critical early point when a small, targeted influx of funds is crucial to shaping innovative research ideas into high-potential life sciences technologies.

The Cycle 2 solicitation is open to research proposals focused on topics related to sleep, hibernation, and the effects of space travel and micro- or reduced gravity on biological processes, except Class 1 medical devices, consumer products, and/or mobile apps.
