United Way Miami Funding - Health & Wellbeing

Healthy Older Adults is a priority goal at United Way Miami. We fund programs that increase access to services and support that allow older adults (age 60 and older) to continue to age in place, engage within the known and trusted communities and support networks. Aging in place also includes proper food and nutrition care. Significant gaps in services for older adults in Miami- Dade County persist, particularly in the area of home-based support. The demand for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) far exceeds supply, leading to long waiting lists and insufficient access to essential care, such as personal assistance and home delivered meals. Chronic health conditions, mental health issues, and social isolation remain prevalent issues for Miami-Dade's older adult population. This funding opportunity will help address the food and nutrition services needs of our older adult residents. Agencies that are interested in applying should serve older adults that are aging in place in their homes and need assistance with healthy meals and also provide congregate meals to older adults. The agency should provide weekly meal delivery services, congregate meals, regular nutrition education, and supplemental services such as social engagement. Agencies should have a demonstrated history of providing meal delivery and congregate meal services that enhance the health and wellbeing of older adults in Miami-Dade County.
