Undergraduate Scholarship

Award Amount: Up to $2,000 per award

Eligibility:

  • Individuals who live in Fairfax County or City of Fairfax

  • Individuals who work in Fairfax County or City of Fairfax

  • Individuals who volunteer in Fairfax County or City of Fairfax

  • Individuals who attend school in Fairfax County or City of Fairfax

  • Must have applied to, been accepted at, or currently enrolled in an undergraduate academic degree program

  • OR enrolled in academic courses not necessarily part of a degree program
  • Evaluation Criteria:

  • Demonstrated academic achievements

  • Achievement or potential achievement in a library atmosphere

  • Letter of reference
  • Service Requirement: Individuals with no library experience who are awarded scholarships must complete between 10-40 volunteer hours (depending on scholarship amount awarded) in:

  • Fairfax County Public Library

  • Fairfax Library Foundation

  • Fairfax Library Friends group

  • Service must be completed before the next scholarship deadline
  • Program History: First awarded in April 2013; 169 awards totaling $220,419.57 have been granted
