Overview

Undergraduate Development Program Advisor Travel Award The Undergraduate Development Program Advisor Travel Award provides the opportunity for faculty advisors to attend the Undergraduate Development Program from March 21–23, 2026, at the Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting. During this program, the advisors and students learn more about toxicology, career opportunities related to this science, and engage with academic program directors. Overall, the goal of the program is to recruit promising undergraduate science majors interested in research careers and who would especially benefit from this opportunity to graduate school in the biomedical sciences, especially toxicology. The purpose of supporting advisors to participate in this program is so that they will become more familiar with toxicology as a career option for their students and encourage students to attend graduate school in biomedical sciences. We recognize that recruiting individuals with a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds enhances creativity and drives innovation across our Society and scientific field. The Undergraduate Development Program Advisor Travel Award recipients experience the program alongside the students. Participants in the Undergraduate Development Program engage in presentations and a case study across the breadth of toxicology, learn about education and career opportunities in the field, and learn more about the requirements for graduate school and a research career. Students and advisors are put into mentor groups with a senior toxicologist mentor and a trainee mentor to facilitate connections. Advisors will take part in a session exclusively for the Undergraduate Development Program Advisor Travel Award recipients on Sunday. On Monday, participants in the Undergraduate Development Program join in Annual Meeting events including the Opening Plenary, poster sessions, and the In Vitro Lecture and Luncheon. The program concludes on Monday with a career presentation from a senior toxicologist. Support for transportation, lodging, meals, and registration is provided to advisor and student awardees. Selection of advisors is independent of the selection of students. View Undergraduate Development Program Student Travel Award for student application information.
