UJA General Operating Support Grants

Overview: UJA provides general operating support grants that offer critical, unrestricted dollars for organizational infrastructure and resiliency.

Key Details:

  • Grant Type: General operating support (unrestricted funds)

  • Purpose: Organizational infrastructure and resiliency

  • Geographic Scope (Domestic): Eight-county catchment area encompassing New York City's five boroughs, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk counties

  • Geographic Scope (International): Europe, Israel, and the former Soviet Union through partnerships with the Jewish Agency for Israel, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and other nonprofit groups

    • Eligible Organizations

    UJA awards grants to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations that are:

  • Charitable organizations

  • Educational organizations

  • Scientific organizations

  • As defined within related Treasury regulations and the Internal Revenue Code

    • Political Activity Restrictions

    UJA-Federation of New York is strictly prohibited from participating in political activities and cannot support or oppose any candidate for elective public office to preserve its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

    1. Visit UJANet: Go to UJANet homepage
    2. View Funding Opportunities: Browse current Funding Opportunities available
    3. Letter of Intent (LOI): New grantees interested in responding to funding opportunities are encouraged to fill out and submit a Letter of Intent so UJA can learn more about the organization and its work
    4. Existing Grantees: If you have an existing UJANet account, log in and visit the Funding Opportunities tab to view all funding opportunities available to your organization

    Note: While UJA may not be able to fund every worthwhile proposal, they are always interested in learning about new initiatives and agencies to collaborate with in the future.
