UJA Designated Grants

UJA makes designated grants available through requests for applications or by invitation to organizations for specific programs, capacity building, or initiatives.

Key Details:

• Grant Type: Project-specific and capacity-building grants
• Selection Method: Requests for Applications (RFAs) or invitation-only
• Purposes: Specific programs, capacity building, strategic initiatives
• Geographic Scope (Domestic): Eight-county catchment area encompassing New York City's five boroughs, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk counties
• Geographic Scope (International): Europe, Israel, and the former Soviet Union through partnerships with the Jewish Agency for Israel, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and other nonprofit groups

Eligible Organizations

UJA awards grants to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations that are:

• Charitable organizations
• Educational organizations
• Scientific organizations
• As defined within related Treasury regulations and the Internal Revenue Code

Application Process

1. Visit UJANet: Go to UJANet homepage
2. View Funding Opportunities: Review current Designated Grant Funding Opportunities (listed as RFAs or invitations)
3. Submission: Follow specific instructions for each designated grant opportunity
4. Letter of Intent (LOI): New grantees may be encouraged or required to submit a Letter of Intent
5. Existing Grantees: If you have an existing UJANet account, log in and visit the Funding Opportunities tab
