Trust-Based Grantmaking It is an essential priority of the Song Foundation to challenge the inherent power dynamic between foundations and nonprofits through engaging in trust-based grantmaking. What We Fund The Song Foundation funds Black, Brown, and immigrant-led and serving organizations in Southeast Michigan. Our priority communities are Flint, Detroit, Dearborn, Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. Diverse and Emergent LeadershipWe support efforts that prepare, support, and build pipelines for children, youth, and young adult leaders to shape local policies and communities.Inclusive Technology and EntrepreneurshipWe support digital equity efforts that help grassroots organizations bridge the digital divide and make the local tech ecosystem more accessible, diverse, inclusive, and equitable.Transformative Social Justice and ActivismWe support civic engagement, grassroots organizing, and culture and movement-building efforts that shift narratives and disrupt the status quo. We ask that you do not submit requests outside of our funding areas. Small grants, which include requests under $150,000, may receive immediate funding, while larger requests may include a phone call or site visit.
