Truckee Donner Land Trust College Scholarship

Funder: Truckee Donner Land Trust Board of Directors (administered by Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation)

Purpose: To support local students pursuing higher education with demonstrated care for the outdoors and commitment to environmental stewardship.

Geographic Scope: Truckee-Tahoe region, California (North Tahoe High School area)

Eligibility:

• Local high school seniors (North Tahoe High School and area)
• First-generation college students encouraged
• Demonstrated care for the outdoors and environmental commitment
• Strong academic and extracurricular profile
• Any field of study considered

Award Details:

• $1,000 per year for four years ($4,000 total)
• Competitive selection from 65+ applications annually
• Selection committee includes Land Trust Board members and Director of Philanthropy

Background: The Land Trust's Board of Directors established this scholarship as a way to contribute to the community and support future generations. The first recipient, Lizbeth Zaragoza Frias (2021), was the first in her family to attend college.
