Overview

History In 1989, longtime area physician and community leader, Dr. John Birdzell met with fellow Crown Point Rotary members to discuss the need for establishing a public charitable organization dedicated to building permanently endowed funds that distribute grants for community needs. The idea was well received. Much brainstorming and administrative preparation followed, including incorporation and tax exemption certification. In 1990, the Crown Point Community Foundation was a reality. Mission Enriching the quality of life in South Lake County. Providing financial assistance to fund a broad range of community needs. Maximizing charitable gifts by utilizing current tax law. Directing resources in a manner tailored to meet donors’ specific needs managing endowment assets which will meet philanthropic needs. Tri Kappa Scholarship - Women's Giving Circle Non-RenewableAll awarded applicants are invited to attend the Scholarship Awards Night on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 6:00PM at the Halls of St. George.
