Travel Stipend for Funded VA Investigators
Funder: Portland VA Research Foundation (PVARF)
Geographic Scope: Portland VA Medical Center and affiliated institutions
Purpose: Provides support for eligible VA investigators to attend up to two scientific meetings per calendar year where they have an accepted abstract for presentation (talk or poster).
- Applicant Type: VA investigators with peer-reviewed grant funding
- Funding Requirements: Must be or have been a Principal Investigator (PI) on a peer-reviewed grant from the VA or NIH that was active either in the previous year or is active in the current calendar year
- For VA Cooperative Studies: PI must be the study chair

How to Apply
Application Process
1. Prior to committing personal expenses, forward a copy of the notification that the abstract has been accepted to the Deputy ACOS, Research Service for approval
2. Await approval confirming investigator eligibility for reimbursement under this policy
3. After the meeting is completed, submit a request for reimbursement using the PVARF Travel Reimbursement form along with the approved travel stipend funding letter to the PVARF administrative office
4. Follow all reimbursement guidelines as listed in travel policy section
- Copy of abstract acceptance notification

- Approved travel stipend funding letter
- Documentation of expenses (receipts, etc.)
