Trash Receptacle Mini Grant

Geographic Scope: Louisiana - KLB affiliate communities only

Program Description: The Trash Receptacle Mini Grant program provides KLB affiliates with physical trash receptacles rather than cash awards. The program was created in response to affiliate requests for additional trash receptacles in their communities. Based on research, littering rates decrease as the convenience of using a proper receptacle increases.

Purpose:

  • Increase the number of trash receptacles in affiliate communities

  • Reduce littering by improving receptacle convenience and accessibility

  • Support placement of receptacles in public spaces
  • Receptacle Options:

  • Sleek stainless steel option - suited for downtown main streets and urban areas

  • Recycled plastic receptacle - designed for park and rural settings

  • Additional style options available
  • Award Details:

  • Up to 5 receptacles per awarded affiliate organization

  • Receptacles are provided directly (not cash awards)

  • High-quality, durable, attractive receptacles
  • Eligibility:

  • Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliates in Good Standing only

  • Must coordinate with local city or parish government to determine:

  • - Appropriate locations for receptacles
    - Suitable receptacle styles for each location

  • Background: Program launched in 2016 in response to affiliate needs. By 2019-2020, multiple affiliates received awards including Keep East Feliciana Beautiful, Keep Eunice Beautiful, Keep Jefferson Beautiful, Keep Mandeville Beautiful, Keep Ouachita Beautiful, and Keep West Baton Rouge Beautiful.
