TRANSPORTATION – Better Connections Program

Supports master planning efforts that evaluate multi-modal transportation options, community development, and water quality improvements. Eligible master plans focus on: improved multimodal connectivity; active transportation and complete streets; access management; traffic calming; parking; wayfinding; rehabilitation of buildings; redevelopment of sites; housing; land use planning; stormwater management. In addition to development of the master plan, the program can fund corresponding economic and marketing plans to ensure the market viability of the proposed improvements and inform the municipality's capital planning.

• Funding Type: Grant
• Funding Range: $35,000 to $67,000. Applicants can pursue up to $30,000 in additional Clean Water funds for stormwater master planning with or without preliminary designs and preliminary designs for up to 6 sites.
• Match Required: 10% for Better Connections. No match for Clean Water funds.

Notes

This program links awardees to a growing network of public and philanthropic partners to help them implement their priority projects.All projects must include an effective community visioning process and robust stakeholder involvement.Projects located in Chittenden County are not eligible for this grant.A Municipal Project Manager (MPM) or RPC Project Management is required.
