Transforming Lives Awards

Overview: The Washington State Association of College Trustees (ACT) created the Transforming Lives Awards program in 2012 to recognize current or former students whose lives have been transformed by pursuing higher education at a community or technical college.

    Award Details

  • Amount: $500 scholarship from the LWTech Trustees/Foundation per nominee; $500 additional from ACT for 5-6 statewide awardees
  • Selection Process: LWTech Board of Trustees nominates one student annually. Nominee enters state pool where ACT Awards Committee selects 5-6 statewide awardees.
  • Recognition: All nominees recognized at ceremony; awardees share stories at Transforming Lives Awards dinner during ACT winter conference (January)
  • Geographic Scope: Lake Washington Institute of Technology students competing in Washington state pool

    Eligibility

  • Current or former LWTech students
  • Lives transformed by pursuing higher education at community or technical college
  • Nominated by LWTech Board of Trustees

    Special Notes

  • In 2021, event was canceled due to COVID-19 but all nominees received scholarships from ACT Awards Committee
  • All nominees invited to dinner ceremony even if not selected as awardee
