Tom McNabb Young Hibernian Leadership Scholarship

Award Details: Full evening package at AOH National Convention

Status: Active scholarship program, awarded at annual National Convention

Geographic Scope: United States (for AOH members nationwide)

Program Overview: Scholarship recognizing and developing young leadership within the AOH. Named after Tom McNabb, beloved deceased Secretary Emeritus and one of the youngest National Presidents.

Purpose:

  • Demonstrate that AOH values younger members and their perspectives

  • Bring young leaders to National Convention to experience camaraderie and sharing of ideas

  • Showcase AOH's good works and initiatives

  • Develop future organizational leaders

    • Eligibility:

  • Age: Under 40 years old

  • Membership: Active AOH members

  • Commitment: Must commit to attending convention functions

  • Willingness: Develop presentation/breakout session on attracting and retaining younger members

    • Award Selection:

  • Number of Awards: Six (6) scholarships annually

  • Selection Process: AOH National Board selects awardees

  • Nomination Sources: Individual self-nomination, or nomination by Division, County, or State Board

    • Award Benefits:

  • Full grant to cover entire evening package at National Convention

  • Recognition at the convention

  • Opportunity to work with other young leaders

  • Platform to present ideas on youth engagement

    • Post-Award Expectations:

  • Must attend all convention functions

  • Report back to local Division, County, and/or State Board on experiences

  • Join national marketing subcommittee
