Title III Grant Program

SWCAA's annual grant application process allocates state and federal Title III funding to organizations that deliver essential services to older adults. The grants department identifies and supports programs addressing the most pressing needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities in Southwestern Connecticut.

Geographic Scope: Southwestern Connecticut region including Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Wilton, Westport, and Weston

Funding Amount: Nearly $2 million annually for community and home-delivered meal programs; additional $1 million dedicated to community-based services

Focus Areas:

• Senior centers
• Transportation services
• Caregiver support
• Nutrition services
• Legal services
• Mental health resources
• Other community-based programs for older adults

Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations that deliver essential services to older adults

Evaluation Criteria:

• Alignment with SWCAA's Area Plan
• Ability to strengthen the region's aging and disability services network

Application Timeline: Requests for Proposals (RFP) released each February

Application Process

Step 1: Get on RFP Notification List

• Send contact information including email to Gretchen James at gjames@swcaa.org or call (203) 814-3620 to be notified of RFP announcements

Step 2: Obtain Application Documents
Download required documents from SWCAA website (use Microsoft Edge for downloads):

Required Documents:

• Annual Request for Proposal (RFP)
• Grant Application
• Evaluation Checklist
• Budget Package (varies by funding stream: Title III B, Title III D, Title III E)

Step 3: Complete Application

• Complete grant application using provided templates
• Complete corresponding budget package for your funding category
• Review evaluation checklist to ensure compliance
• Include supplemental documents as required

Step 4: Submit

• Submit by deadline (typically February each year)
