Overview

Tim Doyle Scholarship

Focus: Educational scholarships for newly elected local officials in Michigan

Purpose: Helps provide access to critical information for newly elected officials through the Elected Officials Academy (EOA) Core Weekender seminar.

Geographic Scope: Michigan municipalities

Eligibility:

  • Recently elected local officials

  • Must be newly elected to city council, village council, or similar positions
  • What is Funded:

  • Covers costs to participate in Michigan Municipal League Elected Officials Academy Core Weekender training

  • Training covers financial management, leadership skills, legal issues, planning and zoning, and other municipal-related topics
  • Background:
    Created in honor of Tim Doyle, who passed away in early 2008. Doyle was a councilmember in Durand, an EOA board member, and an ardent supporter of elected officials training. His wife, Deb Doyle, is a past League president, former EOA board member, and current mayor of the City of Durand.
