George and Judith Goodman Scholarship

Focus: Scholarships for students pursuing careers in local government/public service

Purpose: Building the pipeline of future local leaders in Michigan and encouraging traditionally underrepresented populations to enter the field of public service.

Geographic Scope: Michigan

Eligibility:

  • Michigan high school or college students

  • Pursuing a career in local government through a public policy or public administration undergraduate or graduate degree

  • Preference for underrepresented populations including women and people of color
  • Award Structure:

  • One scholarship of up to $1,000 awarded each year
  • Background:
    Named for George Goodman, a long-time executive director of the Michigan Municipal League, and his wife Judith. George and Judith Goodman have a long-standing commitment to making sure that underrepresented people—including women and people of color—have the chance to pursue careers in public service.
