Geographic Scope: Alaska statewide (with Anchorage emphasis noted in materials)

Focus Areas:

• Early childhood (birth-5 years old)
• Child abuse and neglect prevention
• Support for at-risk parents and families
• Training for parents and service providers
• Education for teens around healthy behaviors and relationships

Target Population:

• Families with children birth-5 years old living in poverty
• Foster children
• Individuals experiencing homelessness
• Children and families facing significant challenges to healthy growth and development

What They Fund:

• Staff training programs
• Parenting classes
• Early childhood education initiatives
• Community prevention programs
• Capacity building for organizations serving vulnerable populations

Program Example:
Kids' Corps Inc. used Tier 1 grant funds to develop "A Strong Start for Anchorage," which pairs staff training and parenting classes to ensure caregivers have tools for creating safe, stable, nurturing environments.
