Overview

Thriving on New Ground Grant

Funder: International Fellowship of Evangelical Students USA Inc (IFES)

Overview: Part of the Thriving Together initiative, these grants provide funding to those serving in student ministry to support projects that advance the national movement's vision and mission.

    Eligibility

  • Who can apply: Anyone working with a national movement (students, staff members, graduates, or board members)
  • Requirement: Funding must be for the advancement of the national movement and align with Thriving Together priorities

    Award Details

  • Amount: Requests between USD $1,000 and USD $15,000
  • Project Focus: Can be used for implementation and advancement of new projects and outreach, funding for camps or conferences, or necessary infrastructure like books, technology, or software
  • Priority: Applications focusing on enabling the national movement to accelerate its vision in the "Thriving on New Ground" priority area

    What IFES Will Not Fund

  • Salaries of current staff members (Staff 2 Staff applications should be submitted to Regional Secretary instead)

    Timeline

  • Application Deadlines: Third Wednesday of the month in June, October, and February
  • Decision Timeline: Approximately 5 weeks after closing date
  • Payment Timeline: Approximately 6 weeks after applications close (may take longer depending on bank processing)
  • Reporting Deadline: Up to one year after receiving funds (6-month interim report required if submission delayed)

    Budget Requirements

  • Must submit budget calculations with quotes where possible and relevant
  • IFES favors applicants requesting 50% or less of final project costs

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Access the application form - Click the provided link for Thriving on New Ground grants
2. Prepare required documents:
- Budget with cost calculations and quotes (where possible and relevant)
- Project details and timeline
- Explanation of how funds will advance the Thriving on New Ground priority
3. Complete the online form with all supporting documents
4. Submit - Applications without all supporting documents cannot be considered
5. Review process - A team will work with your Regional Secretary to review the application
6. Decision notification - Within approximately 5 weeks of the closing date
7. Fund receipt - Funds sent directly to the national movement fund approximately 6 weeks after closing (request through normal fund request process)

Post-Award Requirements

Reporting and Evaluation:

  • Submit an evaluation of how funds were used once project is complete

  • Reports can be submitted up to one year after receiving funds

  • If submitting more than 6 months after funds received, must also send 6-month update

  • Include details of fund usage and impact within the national movement

  • Submit articles, photos, or other feedback for advancement/communications teams if available

  • Timely reporting is required - failure to submit may delay or deny future grant applications
