The Thomas H. Parliment Award for Advances in Flavor Chemistry was established in 2024. The first award will be given in 2026. Purpose To recognize a scientist who has significantly contributed to the advancement of flavor chemistry. The award will consist of $20,000, a medallion, and a certificate. Up to $2,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented will be reimbursed.Eligibility

Consideration will be for the identification of compounds that impact perception of flavor, mechanistic aspects of aroma-flavor release, generation, formation and stability of flavor compounds, or analysis techniques – instrumentation used to investigate flavor. Nominees must have demonstrated independence of thought and originality. Criteria would include expository items such as technical publications, patents, awards (corporate or academic), involvement in professional societies (officer, organizer of meetings) invited lecturer. Nomination of chemists from industry, academia or government is encouraged, providing the individual has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field.
