The Thiru Family Trust Momentum Maker Grant (Momentum Maker) was created to inspire new paths to mental health and well-being in Arizona. Addressing the health disparities that influence maternal mental health is our focus for 2025. Grant funding will support solutions that protect maternal mental health and reduce the number of pregnancy-related deaths attributed to mental health conditions. For 2025, the Momentum Maker Grant is focused on improving maternal mental health. According to the latest report from the Arizona Department of Health Services, about 70 mothers die within a year of their pregnancy. Ninety percent of those deaths are preventable, and 60% of them are Hispanic, Black, or Native American mothers. Mental health conditions were the most common underlying cause of pregnancy-related deaths.
