Program Name: Mary Munford Scholars

Overview: In a tradition inspired more than 100 years ago by founding member and past president Mary Munford, The Woman's Club supports five women each year in the pursuit of a college education. Mary-Cooke Branch Munford was well known in Virginia for advocating for women's education opportunities, and this program honors her legacy.

Award Details

• Amount: $5,000/year for each of five students
• Number of Awards: 5 scholarships annually
• Note: In celebration of 130 years of educating and encouraging women's contributions to the Richmond community (1894-2024), The Woman's Club dramatically increased the scholarship to award $5,000 each to 5 students.

Eligibility

• Target: Future female leaders
• Requirements: Demonstrate financial need, academic excellence, and commitment to serving their community
• Application Open to: Young women and continuing education students alike
• Renewal: Award recipients can reapply, but scholarships do not automatically renew
