The Salvador Fund Grant

The Salvador Fund Grant offers financial support ranging from $250 to $3,500 to nonprofit organizations in the mid-Columbia region of Oregon and Washington. It aims to benefit low-income individuals through various programs, projects, or events. The fund prioritizes applications that demonstrate community impact and cultural competency. Nonprofits must be based in Oregon or Washington, and activities must not solely serve church members or involve religious teachings. Applications are accepted year-round.

The Salvador Fund will consider applications from nonprofit groups from any sector (e.g. education, housing, transportation, health care, the arts and culture, public health) seeking financial support for programs, projects, or events that fit the Salvador Fund’s criteria and priorities.
The purpose of the Salvador Fund is to honor the memory of Salvador Castañares by offering small grants ($250 to $3,500) to benefit low-income people in the mid-Columbia region of Oregon and Washington. The grant committee will consider applications from nonprofit groups from any sector seeking financial support for programs, projects, or events that fit the criteria in the grant guidelines which are available here – Salvador Fund Grant Guidelines. The submission process is open and grant requests will be accepted at any time.

Eligibility

Funded activities will be carried out in the Mid-Columbia region.The application is submitted and fiscal agency is conducted by an Oregon- or Washington-based 501c3 nonprofit organization. [Programs, projects or events may be planned and implemented by an unincorporated community group, but an umbrella nonprofit must be the applicant and have oversight in each case.]Funded activities must principally benefit low-income area residents or migrants.Elements of cultural and linguistic competency must be described in the application.Applications from churches or faith communities will be considered only if the proposed activities: are not restricted to church members; and  do not involve any teaching or sharing of religious doctrine or precepts.

Ineligibility

What is not funded by the Salvador Fund?Direct services or goods to individuals, rather than to groups or organizations serving community residents in general.Scholarships or grants to individuals, rather than to groups or organizations offering scholarship or other educational support with transparent selection criteria.Religious activities.Explicit political activities such as campaigns, advance or opposition of ballot measures, referenda, bills or candidates, etc.Ongoing operational expenses or administrative overhead. Fundraising, advertising, or marketing activities.
